Lately, people have been going pretty gaga over retro SUVs, especially things like the Ford Bronco or International Scout. But, we’ve seen shockingly few examples of one of our favorites: the G-Wagon – probably because people don’t let them go very often. This 1984 Mercedes-Benz 240 GD, however, is about to head to the auction block, and that’s got us pretty pumped.
While it doesn’t boast the craziest performance specs – just 71 horsepower from its 4-cylinder diesel engine and a top speed of 71 mph – it makes up for it with its classic styling and a good amount of off-road capabilities (101 foot-pounds of torque and 4WD). We’re also quite fond of its matte olive green paint job with matching jerry cans, full-length roof rack (complete with what looks like an included Prime Tech rooftop tent and Hi-Lift Jack). Best of all, this classic off-roader is set to be a bit of a bargain, as it’s expected to sell for between just $40,000-$60,000.
