Unless you’re a hardcore outdoorsman or mountaineer, there’s a pretty good chance you aren’t familiar with the Italian brand, Salewa. But, honestly, you should be, as they make some of the coolest and most technical hiking gear around. Case in point: their new Wildfire Edge Approach Shoe.

Designed for warm-weather trail-going, these shoes are the perfect balance of ultra-light weight (1.85 lbs total) and super advanced materials – boasting a construction of leather, nylon, and reinforced patches made of both 3F System Evo and EXA Shell thermo-polyurethane (and a GORE-TEX version is in the works, as well). As if that’s not enough, this shoe also boasts a new Switchfit lacing system that allows for excellent stability and on-the-go tightening to ensure the best fit at all times. In fact, the only thing they didn’t take to task was the sole – borrowed from their POMOCA Speed MTN sneakers – which, with its EVA-double-density foam and butylic thermo polyurethane construction, frankly didn’t need fixing. Set for a 2019 release, these approach sneakers will sell for $189 a pair.
