If you’re anything like us, you’ve never quite been one for gaudy rings with big stones and bands made from precious metals. If given a choice, we’d much rather go for something subtle, but well made. That’s why the Damascus Off Grid ring from J. L. Lawson & Co. caught our eye.

Manually machined from a combination of 440c and 302 stainless steel, the rings have a unique look and feel to them. That’s because, far from being a mass-produced item made in some town you can’t pronounce, these are made by a father and son team in Joshua Tree, California. The two make each item in their workshop without the assistance of a CNC computer technology – meaning each is unique and can be made to order. Available sizes range from 6 to 13.

Purchase: $345
