The sneaker war continues! In direct response to Nike’s new Epic React running shoes, their chief competitor, Adidas, has unveiled their latest foray into high-tech footwear design with their new SOLARBOOST sneakers.

Casually introduced by the brand as “rocket science you can wear,” the lightweight SOLARBOOST sneakers were inspired by NASA engineering, built specifically for pure functionality and to allow runners the utmost in performance and confidence. Adidas is promising a shoe that’s 15g lighter than previous entries, a much higher energy return, better stability (courtesy of an 85% Boost midsole), a flexible Stretchweb outsole, and a precision-stitched Tailored Fiber Placement technology for a precision fit. They’re set to hit shelves at the end of this month for $160 a pair.

Purchase: $160
