Made available for seven years between 1971-1978, the Mazda RX-3 performed surprisingly well in the world or motor racing. In fact, the little car that could placed first in the Japanese Grand Prix in 1972 as well as victories in various other fields across North America. Now, DNA Garage plans to unveil this souped-up aftermarket iteration of the RX-3 during the Roots of Monozukuri exhibit at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.

Hands down, this race-ready beauty is one-of-a-kind – now featuring a triple-rotor 20B engine providing the ride with upwards of 400 bhp. Also, the interior has been completely stripped to help lower overall weight of the vehicle while a custom roll cage by RAD Industries was fitted – as were wide fender flares, a small rear wing, Racepak dash, and an iconic green and yellow paint job alluding to what was dawned by Japanese driver Yoshimi Katayama. For more info, or to see it yourself, be sure to drop by the live exhibit in LA while you still can. [H/T: Silodrome]
