Casio isn’t the only watch brand from across the Pacific producing digital timepieces for use in rugged environments. Introducing Seiko’s new Prospex Fieldmaster series.

More than just looking the part of a contemporary field watch, this timepiece from the brand has a tough impact-resistant polymer case that is paired with a stainless steel backing and durable glass to protect the display and all its functionality up to 200 meters under water. Run by Seiko’s Solar Caliber S802 (a movement that can operate for 5 months on full capacity with one single charge, or 20 on power save mode), the watch has three independent alarm functions, a world timer, stopwatch, and a rotating bezel. Measuring in at nearly 50mm in size, it’s a behemoth of a watch – but one you can count on. Right now the timepiece comes in five different styles – three with a silicone strap, and one sporting a nylon band. And while they’re only available in Japan at the moment, we’re hopeful they’ll end up stateside soon enough.

Purchase: $274
