Long spied and speculated over from afar, Jeep finally unveiled their anticipated 3-row crossover SUV at this week’s Beijing Auto Show. Its official name? The 2019 Jeep Grand Commander.
The first three-row SUV since the release of the Commander, this all-around utility vehicle boasts a lot more space without actually measuring in a whole lot bigger than other models in Jeep’s line. This particular model is just 2-inches longer than the Grand Cherokee while its wheelbase is 4-inches shorter. The powertrain isn’t anything new – being a detuned version of the Cherokee’s turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 231-horses and 258 pound feet of torque rather than the corresponding 270 HP and 295 pound-feet. Given that these will mostly be used to pick up the groceries and take the kids camping, that’s fine buy us. Both 2 and 4-wheel drive models will be made available, though it isn’t clear when or at what price it’ll debut in the U.S.
