Casio’s line of G-Shock watches are renowned for being unbelievably tough and incredibly functional. And that’s really hard to improve upon. They’ve managed, however, with a new special edition called the MR-G G2000HA that was made using traditional Japanese hammering techniques.

The hand-hammered pattern on the watch, called ‘Arashi-Tuchime,’ is the work of 3rd generation master artisan, Bihou Asano, and was directly inspired by the techniques used on the hilts of traditional Japanese swords – yes, those used by the Samurai. The handmade nature also means that every single watch made is one-of-a-kind. The timepiece also boasts Bluetooth connected features, including 3-way time sync capabilities, compatibility with the G-Shock app, and the brand’s super advanced GPS Hybrid Wave Ceptor technology. Only 350 examples are to be made, with only 25 available in the U.S. The price is set at $7,400 a piece and it will be available in July.
