Since the sub-brand was first released in the ’80s, the G-Shock line of ruggedized watches has been synonymous with raw, unadulterated durability. That all started with the DW-5000C. Now, in 2018, Casio is rereleasing a limited edition update of that watch, called the GMW-B 5000, with a body made entirely of steel.
Obviously, the full metal case and band isn’t the only notable update to this bad boy. It also boasts a bevy of modern conveniences – such as Bluetooth compatibility (meaning you can use this watch in conjunction with the G-Shock smartphone app), an automatic world timer, 200m water-resistance (the original only had 100), and solar charging. This shockproof classic is also available either in raw silver or a specialty (and more expensive) gold-finished edition. If you want to get your hands on this limited edition silver or gold rerelease, it will be selling in Japan in mid-April for $558 and $663, respectively.
