Rolex Daytona Ultimatum Auction Preview

In the spring of this year, Phillips will be holding a themed auction dubbed the “Daytona Ultimatum”. To amp up the excitement about this upcoming event, Phillips has unveiled three lots ahead of schedule.

The three lots include the Pintabian Rolex Daytona Reference 6265, the John Player Special Rolex Daytona 6241, and the Ricciardo Panda Rolex Daytona 6263. The 6263 is notable in that it was among the earliest Mark I Paul Newman Daytonas, and is one of just two known to have been sold by a Buenos Aires-based Joyeria Ricciardi retailer. The first watch mentioned here, the 6265, stands out primarily because of its condition – seemingly untouched from when it was originally sold, caseback sticker attached and everything. Finally, the most valuable among the trio is the 6241. A similarly rare gold-case Daytona sold for over half-a-million just recently, and this one is expected to at least meet that price. Whether you’re a potential buyer or just a fan of these high-end timepieces, the upcoming May 12th auction in Geneva is sure to be worth keeping an eye on.
