For a rather long time, everyday carry gear leaned pretty hard toward tactical styling, much to the chagrin of folks that prefer a more subdued and sleek style. Fortunately, we’ve begun to see a swing in the other direction – especially in regards to knives. And Gerber’s new Empower Auto Knife is another little victory for minimalists and urban explorers everywhere.

This blade was created for two reasons. First, it’s a positive response to the recent easing of automatic knife laws. Secondly, its a reflection of Gerber’s continued commitment to offering more American-made knives in every category. Yes, this knife is made in the USA. It’s also equipped with a very high quality S30V stainless steel blade (with the option of a black oxide or stonewash finish) and is mated to a handle utilizing the brand’s signature Armored Grip Tech. Available in four styles with varying color and material combinations, this knife will be available April 1st at a retail price of $125.

Purchase: $125
