When we think about who will make the next big stride forward in the world of super and hypercars, familiar brands like Bugatti, Pagani, and Koenigsegg come to mind. So imagine our surprise when we found out that the fastest car ever built was to be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show and none of the big-name brands will have their badge stamped upon it. Instead, the Missile hypercar is being built by a company called Corbellati.

Apparently, Corbellati is a family name. And the business they were in for the last 70 years? Jewelry. A big step in a different direction, you might say. They, however, believe that creating high-performance vehicles with unique designs is not unlike making delicate jewelry. Whether we agree or not, we must admit the promise of this car is impressive. It’s said to have 1,800 horsepower produced by a gargantuan 9.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine. But that, in itself, isn’t enough to make this the fastest car ever. It also needs to be light – which is to be achieved by giving it a carbon fiber chassis and body panels. And, to slow it down once you’ve entered hyperdrive, they’re equipping it with massive ceramic disk brakes. Whether or not they achieve their goal remains to be seen. But it’s safe to say we are intrigued.
