To make the fastest even faster is a sickness that has ravaged man since he first set his foot on an accelerator pedal. Alois Ruf Jr. is a man that knows this disease all too well, as it is likely a hereditary illness passed down from the senior Ruf, and this 1998 RUF CTR Clubsport is the endemic proof of his morbid obsession to make cars go fast.

Beginning the first forty-thousand kilometers of life dressed as a plain ’ol 3.2 Carrera sprayed in Gaurds Red, the car was delivered in 1991 to Ruf and his team of automotive surgeons in Pfaffenhausen, Germany. Getting the complete CTR makeover, short for ‘group C Turbo Ruf,’ this Carrera saw its steel body panels replaced by aluminum, rain gutters shaved to reduce drag, and both front and rear bumpers swapped for fiberglass units before being painted Mint Green, totaling over 400-pounds of weight reduction. The air-cooled motor saw upgrades as well, with the displacement being bored out to 3.4-Liters, the addition of two monster turbos paired with twin intercoolers, a Bosch fuel injector, and upgraded electronic ignition to give an astonishing 469 hp at the wheels. Subtracting weight and adding power make this an example of how to make one of the world’s best sports cars even better.
