There are few vehicles quite as iconic as the Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUV – with it’s rugged off-road capability outside and luxurious interior. But just because something is iconic, that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for improvement. Take for example this brand-spanking-new update slated for a 2019 release.
This new run features some pretty big updates – changes to things that have remained largely the same over the course of the last 40 years. For instance, this one is wider and longer than previous examples, but it features a new lighter and more rigid chassis with a bit more strength. Its biggest change, however, is that the solid axle front suspension has been swapped out for a new independent one – giving the SUV greater ground clearance, a deeper fording depth, and a slope climbing ability of up to 100%. And, of course, this stellar off-roader wouldn’t be complete without an equally opulent interior, with digital instruments, touch-screen displays, and a fully-featured sound system. This modern legend will hit the market later this year, but pricing has yet to be disclosed.
