Since the first civilian Jeeps rolled off the production line in the mid 40’s, there has been a never ending quest to customize and hop up the beloved utility vehicles. Some opt for practical mods, but Kenny Hauk and the crew at Hauk Designs show their idea of a battle ready rock crawler is far from down-to-earth with their 2010 Jeep Wrangler JK ‘Tomahauk’ build.
Leaving no stone unturned, this Jeep is a long travel away from ordinary. Kenny did a great job of tucking up a custom Rock Krawler suspension kit and locking down 16-inch coilovers to the new 1-ton axles front and rear. A hydraulically controlled 4-wheel steering system was engineered specifically for the build, a first for the Hauk Designs team, giving the 4×4 amazingly responsive controls. Twin turbos chirp on the LS3 crate motor that Hauk was able to cram into the JK, giving plenty of bite to go with the bark of the straight headers poking through the hood. To top it off, hundreds of period correct details, including actual parts from WWII fighter planes, transform this Jeep into the Hellcat of the rocks.
