Setting the tone for a custom build can sometimes be the largest hurdle to getting a project off the ground and onto the lift. For Franco and Carlos from Republica Motocicletas of Argentina, they approach this aspect of the process from a different angle when they focus the build around a single component, much as they have done with this 1994 Honda NX350 Sahara they call ‘Old Power.’

For this undertaking, Republica Motocicletas did not attempt to work with the donor Honda dual sport, but instead erased the chalkboard and centered their build around a fuel tank from a 1965 Jawa. The Czech built gas can needed extensive mods to fit the Japanese frame, but the trouble was well worth it as the new tank set the tone for the no frills look of Old Power. This meant that the rest of the plastic factory equipped body panels had to go, which lead to the replacement of the stock headlight with a two LED unit and an oil cooler, filling the void left by the original cowling. A one-off leather saddle was added in place of the stock seat, a result of chopping the subframe for a shorter look on the tail end. Capped off with a stubby, no can exhaust then semi-knobby tires, this is a scrambler ready for some serious off-highway fun.
