Built to be the go anywhere, do anything, keep running forever vehicle, Toyota’s Land Cruisers have lived up to this goal with numerous examples still chugging along well into their sixth decade of truckin. Legacy Overland of Greenwich, CT understands the value these little vehicles can provide, having performed numerous restoration over the years, and with this 1978 HJ-45 they are showing how to keep the utilitarian dream alive.

Beginning with a complete frame-off restoration, Legacy Overland performed a deep dive into the little truck to ensure every square centimeter was rehabbed, buffed, and coated with tough epoxy based paint. The crew added LED headlights to brighten up the smile on the HJ, a Bluetooth stereo to pump in the jams, and a 2-inch lift to clear the aggressive BFG Mud-Terrains. The 3.5-Liter six cylinder diesel got a complete overhaul before being mated to a 4 speed gearbox, providing ample crawling power for the forty year old beast. Finally, the interior was trimmed in tan leather, for fresh seats, door panels, and dash liner.
