Up until just now the Jeep Cherokee SRT’s claim to fame was its reputation as the fastest SUV in the Jeep family. Well, nothing lasts forever. Even fame. Point-in-case being the all new 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, not only replacing the SRT as the fasted member in the lineup but also earning the title as one of the fastest SUVs in the world.
It’s all thanks to some serious juice under the hood here. Remember the Dodge Hellcat? Well, the Trackhawk boasts the same engine: a 707hp V8 that propels the sinister SUV from 0-60mph in only 3.5 seconds and to a top speed of 180mph. It’s also engineered as an off-road friendly vehicle, featuring all-wheel drive, an 8-speed transmission along with paddle shifters, Bilstein shocks, an electronic limited slip differential, Brembo brakes in the front and rear, 20-inch titanium wheels, and a redesigned fascia optimizing airflow and cooling. On the inside, a driver-focused interior comes complete with an 8.4-inch touchscreen, Nappa leather and suede seats that are heated and ventilated, along with a panoramic sunroof for good measure. No word on pricing just yet but it’s slated to hit dealer lots later this year.
