With so many teasers spanning the course of months, we were beginning to think that it was never going to happen. Then, today, it finally did: the elusive 2018 Dodge Challenger Demon SRT was revealed. And while we weren’t happy about it at the time (and we could definitely do without the day-to-day teasers), it was definitely worth the wait.
Since you can see with your own eyes that this vehicle is a work of art, let’s talk about what you can’t see: performance figures. The Demon packs a whopping 840 horsepower under the hood, thanks to its supercharged 6.2L HEMI V8 engine paired with a functional Air-Grabber hood scoop and something called a “Torque Reserve Launch System.” What that means is that this car can actually beat the Bugatti Veyron’s 1/4-mile time. In fact, it’s the fastest quarter-mile production car ever made with an elapsed time of 9.65 @ 140 mph – as certified by NHRA. And not just that – it’s got the highest horsepower, best 0-60 time, and highest g-force produced of any mass-produced vehicle ever built (1.8 Gs to be exact). It can even pop a wheelie off the line. But, the most absurd metric of all is that Dodge is looking to sell it for less than $100,000.
