Frank Lloyd Wright may have passed away nearly 60 years ago, but the Organic style he pioneered still plays an influential roll in the world of architecture. Take for instance the Maralah Cliff House by LAAV Architecs.
Developed by Laertis-Antonios Ando Vissiliou in collaboration with ad agency designory inc. for the Infiniti qx80 campaign, this cabin has a stark, brutalist look to it that feels oddly at home on the rugged cliffside. But the concrete, matte black steel, and glass materials that make up the structure aren’t what connect it to Wright’s unique architectural approach. Instead, it’s the placement of the cabin into a crevasse with a portion jutting out over a flowing river valley that calls to mind homes like Fallingwater. The interior of the home features a largely open-air design with the bedroom set below the kitchen and living area and made accessible by 6-step staircase. As a result, both upstairs and downstairs areas have a full, uninterrupted view of the surrounding area through the floor to ceiling windows.
