California’s reputation for being sunny and bright isn’t necessarily misplaced, it’s just overrepresented. Head west and you’ll find stormy, cold days as easily as you come across balmy days at the beach. The jacket best built to brave the former? Taylor Stitch’s new Monterey Bomber.

Styled after the top layers once worn by the Merchant Marines that sailed up and down the west coast, these jackets boast a wonderful combination of heritage style and contemporary comfort. Each of the only 36 examples are made from 17-ounce wool sourced from one of the last vertical woolen mills in the world, Abraham Moon. That fabric is then sewn into this attractive bomber right here in the U.S. at Golden Bear in San Francisco. The jacket features a diamond quilted acetate lining with 3.8-ounce polyester fill, a two-way zipper, and naked cowhide leather accents along the collar, pockets, and breast pocket. A very limited, handsome jacket built to brave the worst weather the Pacific dare bring to land.
