We rarely give private label gear coverage, but when we came across news of REI’s upcoming partnership with Gore-Tex fabrics we couldn’t help but highlight their newly announced series of outerwear. Introducing the REI Gore-Tex Line.

This isn’t a first for the outdoor retailer. REI sourced fabrics from Gore-Tex for their weather resistant pants and jackets up until a decade ago when they switched to using eVent in 2008. We’re not quite sure what brought REI back to the Delaware-based manufacturer’s door – although we’re sure GTX’s reputation for being both waterproof and breathable has a lot to do with it. The two jackets, one more engineered for rain and the other for hard-wearing mountaineering, aren’t expected to hit sales racks until early spring 2018. While you wait, though, we have a preview of the DryPoint GTX Active ($249) and Stormbolt GTX ($279) jackets as well as the Vaporush Windstopper Jacket ($169) and Pants.

Releasing: Spring 2018
