While no one has ever accused Hennessy of being conservative when it comes to goal-setting – their dream of building the world’s fastest road car always felt like a bit of a reach. Well, just recently the famed shop proved their doubters wrong with the newly announced Hennessy Venom F5 Hypercar.

This beast from the Texas-based auto shop now holds the coveted title of being the fastest road car on earth. Its twin turbo V8 pushes 1,600 horsepower through a 7-speed single clutch paddle shift transmission rocketing it up to 186 mph in less than 10 seconds on its way to a top speed exceeding 300 mph. These jaw-dropping numbers are possible thanks in large part to the super light carbon fiber body, featherweight chassis, and 0.33 drag coefficient. The company plans to build just 24 of these wildly powerful cars, each retailing for a base price of $1.6 million. No word on what a ticket for going 4 times the speed limit will cost, however.
