TIE-X Tie Fighter Concept

With Disney the new owners of Lucasfilm and the subsequent announcement of a half-dozen new movies set in that galaxy far, far away, it has become abundantly clear that Star Wars isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. It also means we’ll get to see some new and unfamiliar stories, characters, and vehicles on the big screen in the not-too-distant future. And we can only hope that some of them are as tantalizing as Jason Battersby’s Tie-X star fighter concept.

Envisioned as Sith Lord Darth Vader’s secret advanced TIE fighter project, this excellently executed spaceship comes from actual real-life Audi automotive designer Jason Battersby – the mind behind such projects as Audi’s e-bike. And that design pedigree lends a bit more legitimacy to these sci-fi concept renderings. Meant to be a squadron of super-elite fighters, these TIE-X ships are a lot like hypercars of space – but a lot more deadly and sinister. We just hope that, for future movies, Disney is smart enough to look to dedicated and talented Star Wars fans, like Mr. Battersby, for inspiration.
