Casio G’z EYE Action Camera

Though they might not be the most handsome in the world, Casio’s line of G-shock watches are inarguably some of the toughest timepieces ever created. And they’ve got a massive fanbase that’ll gladly confirm that claim. Well, now the brand is bringing that same toughness into the world of photography with their G-Shock-styled G’z EYE EZE-1 action camera.

At first glance, you might mistake this camera for a band-less G-Shock watch – that is, until you realize that there’s a lens where the dial should be. And the implications therein (that this is an absurdly rugged camera) are right on the money. The camera is shock resistant to a 4-meter drop, water-resistant to 50 meters, IP6X dust-proof rated, and can even operate at temperatures as low as 14 degrees Fahrenheit without a protective case. And it can still shoot HD video, capture slow-motion or time-lapse footage, take still photos, and connect with both your smartphone and/or Casio smartwatch. No pricing data has been released yet, but the G’z EYE will see a Japanese release on October 27th of this year.
