Based out of Denver, industrial designer Jeremy Lacy is the man to know when it comes to illustrations and sketches of custom bikes. So much so that his design house – dubbed DownShift Studio – often helps fabricators and builders from around the globe hone in a particular design or custom style. These days, however, he’s taking matters into his own hands with his first hands-on project – seen here – in the form of a Honda CX500.

Right from the get-go Jeremy’s plan was to create a toned-down minimalist street scrambler that would get the job done both on and off the roads in and around Denver. So, in order to accomplish this task, DownShift stripped down the donor bike, removed the original subframe and converted the bike from a twin to mono shock. A new swingarm was also mounted to the new subframe, a fresh leather seat was fabricated for the ride, and a new 18-inch wheel was added in the rear to give the bike some extra lift. Pair that with a LED tail light, a 5-inch headlight, Motogadget controls, and grips and we think it’s fair to say Jeremy’s first build was nothing short of a handsome success.
