Yamaha XT600 ‘The Dirt Racer’

Much of the time, when we come across custom bikes, they’re either rough and rideable or beautiful and non-functional. ┬áIt’s so hard to find that sweet spot in-between. Dan Thomas of Lions Den Motorcycles certainly hit the mark, though, with his Yamaha XT600 called ‘The Dirt Racer.’

The culmination of about two years of work, Dan built this bike as an example of the types of bikes he’d love to build year-round. And, if he gets his wish, we’d happily gawk at everything he produces from here on out. The bike’s whole frame received a going-over with and angle grinder to trim and smooth it down, before getting equipped with some custom bits – including a one-off Hagon rear shock, a modified and braced swingarm, a Triumph Tiger front hub, and a handmade headlight rig. The star of the show, however, is the gorgeous zebrawood and leather seat – which took a total of nine days to meticulously craft. All in all, ‘The Dirt Racer’ is a prime example of a visionary custom motorcycle build.
