RED Cameras has always been on the cutting edge of digital film, but even by their own standards they’re pushing the limit with this new release. Introducing the the Hydrogen One Holographic Media Machine.

This pricey phone displays holographic content without requiring the user to wear special glasses or goggles. Think Princess Leia’s hologram in Star Wars: A New Hope, but higher quality. Don’t feel like hearing information vital to the survival of the rebellion? The holographic display can be switched to regular 2D content, or can be changed to display 3D content and interactive games. Unsurprisingly, this machine will also be able to work with RED’s digital cameras and function as both a remote display and control. We can only assume that this will be primarily marketed towards film directors looking to shoot in 3D. These are available now for pre-order with delivery projected for the first quarter of 2018. You can pick one up in either a titanium or aluminum casing.

Purchase: $1,195+
