In 1995, legendary fictional spy James Bond stopped wearing a Rolex wristwatch in favor of competing Swiss brand, Omega. And, since then, he’s never looked back. As a tribute to the Royal Navy; 007; and to mark the 50th anniversary of You Only Live Twice, the 40th of The Spy Who Loved Me and the 20th of Tomorrow Never Dies Omega has just released this limited edition wearable timepiece. It’s called the Commander’s Watch.
This gorgeous dive watch is done up with some subtle and understated bits of design that require a discerning eye, such as the number 007 gun logo counterweight on the end of the second hand. Similarly, in the date window, the number 7 is done in red, whereas the rest are all blue. And this red, blue, and white color scheme is both due to the fact that they’re the Royal Navy’s ensign colors and a nod to James Bond’s rank of Commander. The rear side of the watch features an exhibition back with another 007 logo marking and, in the timepiece’s presentation case, you’ll find that the watch comes with a similarly branded NATO strap and metal link band. Only 7,007 examples of the silver version of this watch will ever be made – and the 18k gold? Well, there’s only 7 of those in the world.
