Though they have only existed for a few short years, the makers at Diamond Atelier have made a name for themselves. This is partially because of the constant sleekness of their builds. But it’s also because they do something well that so few do – take risks. This perhaps hasn’t been any truer than in their latest build for Dutch watchmakers TW Steel, a Yamaha XSR900 called ‘Aeon.’

The build started with a brand new factory bike that was promptly “uncluttered,” which included the removal 328 feet of wiring – all while making sure that all the major functions (save the ABS) still worked. They also cut a huge chunk out of the fuel tank, bringing it down to a capacity of about 3 liters, to accentuate the skeletonized appearance of this futuristic superbike with a viewing window through the frame. The only additions to the engine were K&N filters and a custom exhaust – and they also fit the bike with new lowered forks, a Wilbers Blackline rear shock, and swapped out the under-flap headlight for a custom TW Steel timepiece. With such a reduced fuel tank and avant-garde design, this bike is more of an exercise in functional art than an actual street-ready custom, but (for what it is) it is masterfully done.
