If you’ve ever gotten even mildly into photography, you know how annoying it can be to have to stop and switch out lenses. More often than not the moment has already passed before you can lock your new lease in place. Even if it hasn’t, you’re likely to have to do the same dance all over again. This is why Tamron’s All-in-One Lens is such a big deal.

The brand new F3.5-6.3 Di II VC LDS (catchy name, don’t you think?) is the first telephoto lens to be able to shoot at focal lengths of both 18mm and 400mm. Put in layman’s terms – this means you could in one moment use this lens to take a photo of a passing city bus, and in the next focus in tight on a portrait subject across the street. The ability to shoot both macro and micro is thanks to the lens’s zoom ratio of 22.2x 18-400mm zoom range. Beyond just these impressive specs – the lens also has a respectable aperture range of f/3.5-f/40, image stabilization, and capability to mount to either Canon or Nikon bodies. We won’t miss the missed moments.

Purchase: $650
