Concrete Snow Cabin By Filter Arkitekter

Although we love getting out in the snow, a good portion of the colder months are inevitably spent indoors. And one of the best places to do that is in a winter cabin. Although, when most people think of cabins, they think of big wooden structures like the one Abe Lincoln grew up in. Well, we’re here to tell you that they don’t all have to be that way. Just take a look at the Concrete Snow Cabin (officially known as Hytte Sirdalen) by Filter Arkitekter, if you don’t believe us.

Nestled away in the side of a mountain somewhere amongst the Norwegian Mountains, this anti-cabin has everything we look for in a winter retreat and more. It’s got a gorgeous view of the frozen north via great big windows and a balcony, warm and welcoming fireplaces dotted about the structure, and – with the existing interior design – a number of animal skin blankets to keep warm. And while the neighbors aren’t too far away, there’s still a good deal of seclusion and privacy. For those of you who think that concrete is too cold a material to build a winter getaway out of, we submit this as a striking example of the contrary.
