For the first time in almost 24 years, car manufacturing is back in Southern California thanks to Karma Automotive’s revealing of their new Revero hybrid. Their factory resides in Moreno Valley, using tools and equipment repurposed from the Fisker Karma plant in Finland.
As for the Revero itself, Karma Automotive hopes this luxury hybrid will give the Tesla brand a run for its money, including a handful of luxury and drivetrain features that support this notion. There’s an elegant infotainment system that Karma Automotive claims will be intuitive and incorporate features such as Apple CarPlay, comes with a solar roof that charges the vehicle’s 12v battery as well as the HV battery to provide the Revero with extra range. Also, under the hood is a 260hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine from GM making the vehicle quite quick, hitting 60 mph in 5.4 seconds and boasting a total range of 300 miles. The HV battery is quick-charging as well, reaching an 80 percent state-of-charge in just 24 minutes. It was officially unveiled last week in Laguna Beach and orders are now being accepted for their first official rollout with a list price of $130,000. [Purchase]
