Remember when Roombas hit the market in 2002? After a couple of years of people asking where their jet-packs were (“Come on! It’s the new century!”) they seemed like a sign we were living in a new century. Now, 15 years later, we’re getting an even more high-tech version of the self-driving vacuum courtesy Samsung’s POWERbot VR7000 Vacuum.
The big standout feature on this thing is the built in Amazon Echo support. You can simply tell the vacuum to go clean up by the door and it’ll up and do it without you having to bend over and hit a button or fiddle around with your phone. In addition to that flashy feature, the POWERbot VR7000 boasts 20 watts of suction power and the ability to get within just a half an inch of your walls. That means a serious clean all around. To top it all off, thanks to the proprietary Visionary Mapping Plus and FullView Sensor it not only learns the contours of your home, but remembers which parts are dirtier than others. No word quite yet on the price of this thing, but we expect to learn more early this coming January. [Purchase]
