If you grew up a PC gamer or you’ve dabbled in computer-based art and/or design, you’ve probably hooked up multiple displays to a single system at some time or another. Which was, at the time, a really great way to increase your digital workspace before there were other options. The biggest drawback was probably the unsightly break in the display between screens that was inevitable with a multi-monitor setup. But that was then. And LG’s 38UC99 is now.
This gargantuan 38″ curved monitor features a 21:9 ratio with a resolution of 3440 x 1440 QHD – for those keeping score, that’s a pixel area about 2.4 times larger than a 16:9 full HD monitor – whose display covers 99% of the sRGB color spectrum. This marvel also reduces motion blur in only one microsecond, disposing of all image blurring and display stutter, whether you are watching a blockbuster action movie or playing the latest racing game. And that alone would be more impressive than pretty much anything else on the market. But this beast also comes with a built-in Bluetooth speaker, single-wire laptop connectivity, and some of LG’s other premier technologies – including FreeSynch, Black Stabilizer, and Flicker Safe. LG has yet to set the MSRP, but this monitor should be available in late September.
