Arc’teryx Norvan VT Trail Runner

Arc’teryx, the widely respected outdoor gear brand, has just announced that they’ll be releasing their first trail running shoe – the Norvan VT and Norvan VT GTX (GTX will have a GORE-TEX lining). Given the company’s long history building tough gear for the outdoors and the success they’ve had with their hiking boots – it’s fair to say that this could very well be the start of something great for the brand.

And while this new release is a good thing for the brand, its really outdoorsmen who really stand to gain from this new release. The upper on this shoe will feature a new piece of proprietary technology Arc’teryx is calling a ‘360 degree Support System’ that consists of a criss-cross of external and internal elements that are designed to hug the foot for a secure fit even while barreling down uneven trails. For dynamic support on dynamic terrain, the system allows runners to adjust the laces for steep ascents, and loosen for more even sections on the trail. And to ensure solid grip on a variety of different angles, the shoe will come with a Vibram outsole on the heel, and a rubber sole on the toe for quick ascents. Prices for these shoes will be set at $170 for the VT and $200 for the VT GTX.
