Thanks to LG Electronics, the next generation of live streaming is here. Built with LTE connectivity, allowing users to stream directly to sites such as Youtube without a smartphone, the LG Action CAM will launch in South Korea in June followed shortly thereafter in North America and Europe.
So long as there is a 4G connection, which is almost everywhere these days, users will have the ability to essentially install a portable webcam to capture live-action in real time. The Live Action CAM (hosting a 12.3-megapixel camera with a 150-degree wide angle lens) will also offer remote access functionality through 3G and LTE that will enable the device to be used as a CCTV camera for home monitoring or as an automobile dash camera. You will also be able to download recorded images and videos on your paired smartphone as well. For those adrenaline junkies, the CAM features a rating of IP67, meaning it’s completely protected from dust, sand and can be immersed in up to one meter of water for 30 minutes. A waterproof case will also become available for wetter actives like scuba diving and surfing. It also hosts a 1,400mAh battery meaning the camera features an HD recording time of up to four hours. No word on pricing yet but we’re anxious to see how this measure up to its obvious rival.
