Drift Bench by Fernando Mastrangelo

Fernando Mastrangelo’s ‘Drift Bench’ is a striking combination of rugged and refined. The Brooklyn based artist has been known for blurring the line between fine art and design. Not quite furniture, and not quite fine-art, the bench is made from hand-dyed sand, powdered glass, mirror and cement.

Mastrangelo’s ‘Drift Bench’ piece is part of a series called ‘sculptural furniture’ that includes a chaise lounge made out of cement, and side-tables made from quartz and cement. This particular bench isn’t for sale, and made its debut at James Gallery at Art Genève in Switzerland last month. Mastranglo also has a series of coffee tables, side tables, consoles, and dining tables available for purchase on his website, starting at upwards of $4,500. [Purchase]
