Just when you thought the Mustang couldn’t get any better, Ford revealed this. Say hello to the 2016 Ford Shelby GT350R Mustang, the most track-ready Mustang ever built by American auto maker.
Set to hit the scene later this year, this bad boy is packed with Ford’s first ever flat-plane crankshaft V8. The powerplant will be good for over 500 horsepower and over 400 lb-ft of torque, although specific numbers have yet to be announced. Not only is this thing powerful, but it also has the suspension to match. Each GT350R features a lower ride height with revised spring rates, antiroll bars, revised calibration controlling the MagneRide dampers, cross-axis ball joints in the front suspension, and even a track-tuned alignment setting for optimum performance. Each ride is also outfitted with a larger front splitter and rear wing, GT350R badges throughout, and a set of lightweight carbon fiber wheels – all standard. This limited edition vehicle is just one of 12 new performance vehicles Ford plans on releasing through 2020, and we’re liking what we see.
