2016 BMW X5 M and X6 M
The second generation of BMW’s crossover beasts, the X5 M and X6 M, are here and they’re even more powerful than before.
They’ve kept their 4.4-liter, twin-turbocharged V8s, but horsepower has been nudged from 555 to 567, and the end result is a whiplash-inducing 0-60 time of four seconds flat. The 10% increase in torque at 553 pound-feet doesn’t hurt either. There’s Dynamic Stability Control, a new eight-speed Steptronic transmission with paddle shifters, and BMW’s xDrive system can shift 100-percent of the power to either set of wheels as needed. They both look the part too, with 21-inch premium wheels, huge front-end air intakes, side gills, M-detailed exterior mirrors and four-pipe exhaust, and a rear spoiler for the X6. Look for these two in showrooms next year, with the 2016 X5 M priced at $99,650 and the X6 M running $103,050.
