New Balance is launching its first running shoe with a 3D-printed midsole, taking the latest in technology and applying it to their high performance running shoes to create the ultimate footwear.

The technology uses the company’s newly developed DuraForm Flex TPU for the midsole, and uses the benefits of 3D printing to create the ideal balance of flexibility, strength, weight, and durability. The shoe is designed using underfoot pressure data from heel strikers, and it uses more cushioning elements in areas of higher average pressure. Using selective laser sintering, the shoemaker is able to give their shoes a previously unavailable combination of strength and elasticity. This limited edition, state-of-the-art running shoe will launch first in Boston in April 2016, and will then arrive at various New Balance retail locations around the globe. Watch the video below.
