2015 Tesla Model S P85D
While we wait with baited breath for more details about the affordable electric car Tesla is working on, for now we’ll have to make due with news about yet another high-end piece of innovative automotive excellence.
The Model S P85D looks just like Tesla’s magnificent Model S, but there are numerous enhancements here. For starters, it’s all-wheel-drive and it’s fast as hell, churning out an awesome 691 hp and 687 lb. ft. of torque—good for 0-62 mph in just 3.2 seconds. While that sounds like a blast to drive, Tesla is also taking the wheel out of your hands if you like with its new driver-assist systems including an auto-pilot solution for self-parking. The P85D actually features dual motors, one for each axle, and as you might expect, that brings with it extra weight, as the vehicle is 291 lbs. heavier than the Model S P85, and its range is 10 miles more (a very respectable 275 miles). Pricing starts at a robust $120,000, with deliveries expected by year end or early 2015.
