Italian coachbuilder Zagato has a deep history of customizing some of the world’s finest cars, and that reputation is about to get strengthened with its latest creation, a dazzling take on the Maserati Monstro.

Designed to pay homage to the Maserati 450S Coupe Zagato (“il Mostro,” which translates into “the Monster”) as part of Maserati’s 100th anniversary, Zagato’s Mostro sticks pretty close to the original’s design, what with its long (though now pointier) nose and up-swept rear fascia, but as you might expect, this car has way more carbon fiber. The engine, a dry-sumped V-8, sits in a front midship position and powers the rear wheels via a six-speed, semi-automatic gearbox mounted at the rear axle. Zagato’s own 19-inch wheels are covered with 255/40 size tires up front and 295/35s at the rear. A limited run of five cars will be built, and they’ve all been sold.
