The all-new Discovery Sport is set to replace Land Rover’s LR2, and from the looks of things, we don’t think anyone will mind. This appears to be a really sharp looking SUV with room for seven and a beefy 240 hp turbocharged, 2.0-liter engine. With a sticker around $38,000, the middle class might have a new way to savor some luxury.

Expected at dealers early next year, the Discovery Sport will be a little lighter than expected (3,957 lbs.) due to plenty of aluminum used in the hood, roof, front fenders, and tailgate. Land Rover says the all-wheel drive vehicle will be able to sustain up to 23.6 inches of wading depth, so here’s your post-hurricane ride right here. There’s a new multilink rear suspension, and the new 8-inch touchscreen promises “mood lighting” controls, among other perks.
