We can’t say we’ve been watching Shark Week since its 1988 inception date. But, what we can say is that in recent years the Discovery Channel has really started to dumb down the programming, and the folks at Vox point that out in their Shark Week Debunked video.

In the past, we tuned into Shark Week to learn more about these amazing creatures. Things like why sharks behave the way they do, how to coexist with them, their migratory patterns, conservation, and so on. We would become educated on nature’s beasts, while being fascinated by their beauty at the same time. These days, it’s nothing more than fake news, videos, and even documentaries used to attract a whole new audience, and to keep the buzz of Shark Week going strong.
