It could’ve been the Astros, or maybe it was Pauly Shore’s Bio-Dome that turned people off to the idea of living in a dome, but we’re here to tell you this space-age concept is now ready for prime-time (and totally free of Stephen Baldwin).

Solaleya Designs is creating domes that are made entirely from natural and renewable materials like recycled steel, certified wood, and compressed straw, and with solar energy doing all the heavy lifting, your carbon footprint will be smaller than Prince’s actual footprint, which is pretty damn small. For example, the Domespace model sits on a rotating base, so if you wanna see the sunrise you can, and if you wanna sleep in until noon and keep the sun out of your face, that’s also quite doable. Oh, and yeah, the dome’s aerodynamic shape is said to help resist hurricane force winds.
