If the woods are gonna lure us away from our comfy couches, they’re gonna need some ammo. Camping is great and all, but too many people are just too glued to their mobile devices to quit cold turkey for a weekend. That’s why a product like the Biolite KettleCharge, that lets you get off-the-grid power in a pinch, is so relevant in 2014.

Just fill the stainless steel body with water, heat it over a flame, and you’re ready to power up your devices with up to 10 watts of electricity. 15 minutes of boiling yields roughly five hours of talk/video time. How it works is rather sciencey and stuff, but we do know the Thermoelectric Generator on the base of the KettleCharge uses the difference in temperature to generate the juice. Once finished, you’ve also got clean water to use as you see fit. [Purchase]
