Maybe we’ve just got Dawn of the Planet of the Apes on the brain, but the idea of living or least working among the trees is increasingly a tempting one. Invisible Studio’s elevated timber structure only reinforces this desire.

Situated near Bath, England, this tree-raised workshop and office space has a frame made of untreated and unseasoned logs that were sourced from the surrounding forest. 55 square meters of space is elevated above an outdoor workshop area down below, with a wood plank bridge providing access to the upper level. The roof’s uniform slope is designed to collect rainwater, which then goes into an attenuation pond to serve the site’s ecology. The structure was made by workers who had no previous construction experience, and that means any mistakes that were made in the building process were left unconcealed in the finalized structure. C’est la vie!
