Acid trips, no matter how many double rainbows they may yield, are not to be taken lightly—just say no and all that. But do we recognize the human brain’s innate desire for bizarre visuals and hallucinogenic experiences? Of course. And that’s why after seeing the new trailer, we’re prescribing a heavy dose of Mario Kart 8.

This will be the first console-playable Mario Kart release since 2008. That’s a pret-ty long time in gamer years, and Nintendo is ready to make up for that absence with more competitive zaniness than you can probably handle. There’s hang-gliding, underwater driving, a new anti-gravity ability, and more colors to feast on than a Bloods-Crips fight in a Fruit Loops factory. Pop it in your Wii U this May. [Purchase]
