Driving Curve: Gamify Your Drive Home

‘Gamification’ has become a hot trend in recent years. It basically means using video game-like principles or mechanics in non-game contexts for education, business, fitness, or some other objective. In the case of Drive Curve, it’s gaming for the iPhone-owning, fuel-conscious gearhead.

It’s being billed as “Nike+ for your car,” and it uses GPS technology to measure your car’s speed and driving technics throughout the day. That data then gets recorded, analyzed, and quantized in game form, ranking you against fellow drivers and your previous best scores, while also offering achievement carrots on a stick to encourage smart driving. Got a lead foot? Get used to the bottom of the leaderboard. It’s certainly a much better way to get your gaming fix in the car than driving with a pair of Nintendo Power Gloves on. [Purchase]
